On the way to our destination, we stayed overnight at the Globe Inn, Yass.

We stayed at the 'Punka Pub' at Porepunkah, just six kilometres from Bright, Victoria. The area is a very popular bike riding venue.

We had breakfast each morning at the Rail Trail Cafe, so named because it's on one of the many rail trails in the district. Enormous plates of bacon and eggs and toast.

Here's Joh having a drink with all her friends at the Punka Pub.

She's smiling. Maybe another friend has arrived.

There were lots of galahs in the area. (there were also Gang Gang Cockatoos, but they were very hard to photograph).

On the second day we visited Beechworth, an historic gold mining town. Gold was discovered in 1852.

At Beechworth, we visited a local brewery, and purchased some of their product.

I have really enjoyed following your journey here, Al and Joh. The views are spectacular, and I can see why you loved this trip.

My favourite 'people pic' was this one:

and there were some lovely photos of Joh too.

I have hesitated to post because of what Al posted :

After leaving Bright, we travelled across the mountains on the Great Alpine Road.

We had a break at Mt Hotham.

Then we continued on our way to Omeo.

From Omeo, we headed to the coast, then slept and drove until we arrived home.

The End.

Very interesting, Al. I am so glad you remembered to finish the story of this journey! Spectacular mountain scenery.

So - did you stay here?

Image

And the Hinnomunjie Picnic Races looked like a lot of fun. Was that you in the fake moustache and sombrero?
