Rest stop on drive home:

This river may look shallow but the water in that area must have been 4ft deep, crystal clear like bottled water!

After our first visit to Chesterman Beach, we spent the remainder of the first afternoon exploring Tofino. We had a late lunch, checked into our 'cottage', then returned to Tofino to explore a little. We visited giftshops and art galleries, which are very 'pricy', but interesting.

Then we went to the busy little harbour to watch the water taxis and float planes leaving and departing.

On Friday we checked out of our 'cottage' fairly early and headed towards Ucluelet - stopping off at Radar Hill first. (Rick has posted some of the pics from there). It was a bit cloudy, with the fog lifting, but it soon brightened up and the sun was poking through by the time we arrived in Ucluelet.

We went to the Amphitrite Point Lighthouse.

Image

Here we are, having a bit of a giggle (can't remember what that was about) but it was just by the lighthouse, with the lovely distant view of the Broken Islands.

Maybe I was encouraging Rick to take a hike along the Wild Pacific Trail?

Image

Or maybe I'd convinced him that I'd throw him a lifebuoy if he fell in?

Image

After a short visit to the downtown harbour, we headed for lunch (fish 'n chips for us - burger for Rick), then hit the road back home!

We had a short 'pit stop' on the way back - it was so lovely with the sun shining brightly and the crisp autumn colours. So we pulled into a 'rest stop' where Rick tested the water in the river - he said it wasn't very cold! ;)

We are experiencing a lovely "Indian Summer".

The autumn colours are very evident in our yard - Rick is enjoying them - but he knows he's going back to summer soon.

Yesterday (Sunday) afternoon we took a little drive to the nearby farm for some eggs and veggies.

We then continued on around the Nanoose Peninsula enjoying the autumn colours. We were lucky to get a lovely view of distant Mount Baker (in US) from the Schooner Cove area.

We went a little further, passing the Fairwinds Golf Course, but we had to stop to take pictures of the little herd of deer, grazing on the links!

(Rather them there than in our garden!)

Later, after dinner there was a lovely sunset. The end to a perfect day. :-)

Today it took a bit of persuading, but I managed to convince Rick to spend a little time outside! (He needs to work on his tan!)

He kind of approved of these! ;)

Today was a working day! The rush is on to get cameras installed. So here is the installation crew at work:

More planning!

Which tool shall I use?

This one might do!

Then, after more work later ... Rick shows some carving skill! :D

(I hope he shows you what he had for dinner!)

For dinner today I had a burger and upgraded the fries to a "Canadian specialiaty" Poutine! That is Fries with Gravy and cheese curds.

After that there was another lovely sunset behind Mount Arrowsmith.

Then I decided to get to carving the pumpkin we bought a few days ago!
